City of Seattle: Migration from SharePoint Foundation 2010 to Office 365 SharePoint Online. Microsoft assigned James as the architect responsible for delivering a SharePoint governance plan on this comprehensive project spanning all City of Seattle agencies. James worked closely with the City’s governance council, guiding them in developing a governance framework and processes, and integrating these processes across all departments. James empowered the governing council with the tools they needed to make crucial decisions around governance, and advised them on relevant information architecture issues. James created the initial draft governance plan and helped the council to socialize and refine it.
Fox Entertainment Group: SharePoint 2010, 2013 migration to Office 365 SharePoint Online. James helped facilitate a ten-week migration assessment, analysis, planning, and migration simulation execution training for Fox Entertainment Group’s IT team, to prepare them for an upcoming migration. As a Microsoft expert, James helped to identify potential migration challenges while demonstrating how to mitigate those challenges using prescriptive procedures. James developed migration tools and procedures to proactively manage content and collaborated with department representatives to identify non-compliant applications. He explained migration mitigation strategies, and wrote key project documents including the Migration Plan, Governance Plan, Information Architecture Design and Implementation Guide, as well as creating a Migration Guide for cloud-based applications targeting the SharePoint Cloud Application Model. James also designed technical processes to calculate the migration durations for specific scenarios, as well as information mining tools to help analyze and visually represent hard-to-access content.
