KING COUNTY WASTEWATER CHOOSES ONIT TO KEEP COMMUNICATIONS PIPELINES FLOWING

SEATTLE, Wash., June 2021 – King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) has tasked Onit Management Consulting with helping its Project Planning & Delivery (PPD) Section adapt its communication and collaboration processes for a remotely working staff. Having sent its more than 200 people to work from home in 2020 as a COVID-19 mitigation strategy, WTD-PPD is now optimizing its decentralized model for the long term. PPD stakeholders will work with the Onit team to create a new norms around online meeting management, use of collaboration technologies and stakeholder communications, including techniques to create informal “watercooler moments” in a largely virtual work environment. Onit brings to the project its expertise in project and program management, online learning strategies, and organizational change management, as well as its experience from working with WTD since 2020 on implementing a new Program Management Delivery Methodology. Onit is honored to be entrusted with helping PPD staff co-create a “new normal” together.

Part of the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks, King County Wastewater Treatment Division serves more than 1.8 million people across a 424-square-mile service area, including most urban areas of King County and parts of south Snohomish County and northeast Pierce County. The wastewater treatment system includes five wastewater treatment plants across the service area, as well as one community septic system, four combined sewer overflow (CSO) systems, 25 regulator stations, 49 pump stations, 39 CSO outfalls and more than 391 miles of sewer pipelines.
